What Our Patients Are Saying

Shawn at Fix Medical Group made my first chiropractic experience absolutely incredible. His approach completely put me at ease. During his analysis and information gathering portion of the appointment, his attention to detail was incredible. He listened, asked great questions and was able to draw some crucial additional pieces of information out of me that I didn’t think pertained (but they did). He made sure I understood what he thought the problem was and we are in the process of creating a game plan to fix it. I’m a 30yr old avid CrossFitter and hiker and have had chronic low back pain for years. After the first appointment, I felt the best I have felt in 10 years. I can’t wait to continue to work with Shawn and his team. I would give Shawn and Fix Medical 6 stars if I could. Great experience!! Definitely will go back.

I first learned about Dr. Shawn Robek, from Sue Falsone at a Perform Better Seminar. She highly recommended Dr Shawn and said he would be able to help. I had a total knee reconstruction of my left knee, all new ligaments. I was about a year out when we first met and I was in constant pain, with every step I took. I wasn’t able to flex my quad due to severe muscle atrophy and I thought I would never squat again. I just finished my 12th session with him and I’m squatting, lunging, jumping and walking with no pain! I worked really hard inside his gym and did the homework as he requested. We built a friendship that will last forever ! Thank you, Dr Shawn, for being you! May God continue to bless you and your business!

Everybody that I have met that works here is great! I’ve been to several doctors over the last few months, and I am actually scheduled to have eight-disc fusion surgery in June, but I have had 3 sessions with Shawn and he really knows the human body. He is aggressive in his treatment, but he knows what he’s doing, and I am so glad that I started seeing him. Before I couldn’t even walk my dog to the mailbox without my sciatica really killing me, but today after my appointment with Shawn, I could walk to the mailbox without my leg bothering me at all. So, then I walked another mile, which is big for me. Normally I can’t walk more than a couple hundred feet without my sciatica killing me because of the curve in my back. I’m glad I found these guys and I will continue my treatment with them.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Spinal Decompression

What is spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression is a non-invasive and natural way to address common causes of back pain. Many ailments such as herniated or bulging discs, sciatica, and general neck and back pain are a result of pressure on different areas of the back. In spinal decompression, a chiropractic care professional uses special equipment to gently stretch and manipulate the positioning of the back, allowing the pressure to be removed and the pain to subside.

At FIX Medical Group, we treat each patient with a holistic approach, and sometimes using spinal decompression along with other chiropractic care can produce great results. Typically, people suffering from disc issues or sciatica are candidates for spinal decompression, but our patients each receive a customized care plan. If you are curious about spinal decompression and want to learn more about this potentially life-changing technique, we will be happy to answer any questions and discuss the cause of your specific pain to determine if it’s a good fit for your situation.

During spinal decompression, you will lie comfortably on a motorized table while a chiropractor uses specialized equipment to gently stretch and reposition your spine. This process creates negative pressure within the discs, promoting the retraction of herniated or bulging discs and relieving pressure on nerves. The treatment is pain-free and typically lasts 20-30 minutes per session.

While professional spinal decompression is most effective, you can try gentle at-home methods such as inversion tables, yoga stretches (e.g., child’s pose or cat-cow), or hanging from a pull-up bar. Always consult your chiropractor or healthcare provider before attempting these techniques to ensure they are safe for your condition.

Yes, spinal decompression can be highly beneficial for relieving pressure on spinal discs and nerves, reducing pain, and improving mobility. It is particularly effective for conditions like herniated discs, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease. However, it’s important to consult a professional to determine if it’s suitable for your specific needs.

Spinal decompression therapy is generally safe and non-invasive, with minimal risks. Some patients may experience mild soreness or muscle spasms after treatment, but serious side effects are rare. It is not recommended for individuals with severe osteoporosis, spinal fractures, or certain spinal implants. Always consult a qualified chiropractor to assess your suitability.

Spinal decompression has a high success rate, with many patients experiencing significant pain relief and improved mobility. Studies show success rates of 70-90% for conditions like herniated discs and sciatica. However, results vary depending on the individual’s condition, adherence to treatment, and overall health.

Spinal flow techniques, including spinal decompression, are generally safe with minimal side effects. Some patients may experience temporary soreness, stiffness, or mild discomfort after treatment. Serious side effects are rare, but it’s important to work with a trained professional to ensure proper technique and safety.

Untreated spinal compression can lead to chronic pain, nerve damage, reduced mobility, and degenerative conditions like arthritis or disc disease. Over time, it may also cause muscle weakness, numbness, or tingling in the extremities. Early intervention with treatments like spinal decompression can help prevent long-term complications.

Yes, spinal manipulation performed by a licensed chiropractor is generally safe and effective for relieving pain and improving spinal function. While rare, potential risks include temporary soreness, headaches, or fatigue. Serious complications are extremely uncommon when performed by a qualified professional. Always discuss your medical history with your chiropractor before treatment.
